You must be a registered Girl Scout prior to receiving training.

Please make arrangements with Valerie if you need

to register and pay the $10 registration fee on site prior to your session.

Please note that trainings may be cancelled due to lack of participation.

 

March 22nd:

BLT  Valdosta, 2:00pm - 4:00pm, South Regional Library

CPR/1ST AID, 9:00am-5:00pm, Lakeland UMC, Youth Oasis Bldg, , 340 Main Street Lakeland ,GA

 

April 2nd:

BLT  Tifton, 6:00pm - 8:00pm, Shoney's Restaurant - Leader will receive appropriate Age Level books and Leader Notebooks at the training.

 

 

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

Orientation:  Volunteers learn the basics of Girl Scouting: The Four Program Goals, Guidelines, Promise and Law, Girl Scout Policies, The Girl Scout Story, Etc.  This is a basic introduction to Girl Scouts for all volunteers.

Basic Leader Training:  Required of all leaders and assistant leaders.  This course gives you examples of activities including a simple flag ceremony, program and event ideas, and steps needed to meet outside of your regularly scheduled troop meeting location.  It defines the aspects of Girl Scouting and identifies the responsibilities of a Girl Scout Leader.  Prerequisite:  Orientation.

Age Level Training:  (Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Cadette & Senior) required of all leaders and assistant leaders.  This course covers age level appropriate information such as how to plan a troop meeting and explains the significance of the girl/adult partnership in Girl Scouting.  It offers some basic program ideas as well.  Prerequisite: Basic Leader Training.

Ceremonies:  Volunteers will learn to perform Girl Scout and Flag ceremonies working directly from Ceremonies in Girl Scouting.  Prerequisite:  Basic Leader Training and Age Level Training.

Songs:  Volunteers will learn traditional and new Girl Scout songs for everyday and camp. This is a great way to create lasting memories for you and the girls. Prerequisite: Basic Leader Training and Age Level Training.

CPR & First Aid:  This course teaches the basics of first aid safety and CPR.  It requires a hands-on skills test as well as a written examination.  Certified Red Cross instructors teach this course at a reduced cost through the Council to registered Girl Scouts only.  It can also be taken through agencies such a Red Cross or the American Heart Association. Prerequisite:  Basic Leader Training and Age Level Training.  **Fee: $6.00 per certificate.  

Outdoor 101:  Outdoor skills needed for cabin camping, hotel overnights, outdoor grilling, and travel safety issues.  Prerequisite:  Basic Leader and Age-Level Training if you are a leader.

Outdoor 102:  Advanced outdoor skills needed for tent camping, open fire cooking, “leave no trace” techniques, and outdoor safety issues. Prerequisite:  Outdoor 101
