"Welcome to our rededication ceremony.
In almost all countries and cultures there are ceremonies to mark
important events in life - days of celebration, sad days, joyous days,
days on which a special commitment is made, days that mark an
achievement. Girl Scouts, too, have ceremonies to mark important events
and significant days. Today we are here to reaffirm our belief in the
Girl Scout Promise and Law.
The Girl Scout Promise is the foundation of all Girl Scouting. And the three green candles represent the three parts of the Girl Scout Promise. "
(As each candle is
lit, a sentence or two should be shared about that part of the Promise.)
1.
"Serve God and my country
2.
Help people at all times
3.
To live by the Girl Scout Law
Please join me in reciting the Girl Scout Promise. "
(Group recites the Girl Scout Promise
together)
And now we will rededicate ourselves
to living the Girl Scout Law.
I will do my best to be:
HONEST and FAIR,
FRIENDLY and HELPFUL,
CONSIDERATE and CARING,
COURAGEOUS and STRONG,
and RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT I SAY
AND DO,
and to RESPECT MYSELF AND
OTHERS,
RESPECT AUTHORITY,
USE RESOURCES WISELY,
MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE,
and BE A SISTER TO EVERY GIRL
SCOUT.
(As each candle is lit, a sentence or
two should be shared on what that part means to you.)
(At this time any new members
should be pinned.)
"Just as the sun brings us warmth and
light, may we in return spread warmth and friendship to those we meet.
Let’s make Girl Scouting fun for the girls but at the same time not lose
sight of the Promise and Law. Thank you.
