Family Partnership Campaign

Being a partner with the Girl Scouts of Southwest Georgia is not new for many families in Southwest Georgia.  Our Girl Scout Council makes a promise to the parents of each Girl Scout that we would provide her with all the possible opportunities to be her best.  We become partners with the parents and families to ensure that she develops character, moral values, positive self-esteem and the power to grow strong!  It is this partnership, between adults and girls, that has been the strength of our organization.  What is new about this partnership is that we need help from our membership to support our Council in guaranteeing that the Girl Scout tradition will carry on into the future.

Although our Council receives funding from United Way Agencies and our Annual Cookie Sale, the gap between our needs and such financial sources is ever widening.  We must look for financial support from our local communities, neighbors and friends in order to bridge this funding gap and continue to provide positive and value-based programs to girls. The cost to our Council to provide Girl Scouting to one girl for one year is $350. Troop dues provide funds for Troop activities only.  Such activities may include craft supplies, snacks, badges etc.   The $10 registration fee that each girl pays annually is forwarded to our National organization, GSUSA, to provide insurance for the girl.  Neither Troop dues nor the registration fee support activities on the Council level.

Girl Scouts of Southwest Georgia understands and appreciates the value of our volunteers’ time.  Many families have found that donating both their time and money to a cause they deem worthwhile such as youth groups or religious organizations, is one way they can support their own daughter’s opportunities for growth and development.

Each Family Partnership contribution will be used to support the work that is done here within our Council.  It will be used towards providing program and activities for the girls, the cost of recruiting and training troop leaders, program support, camp maintenance, financial assistance for girls and the many other services available to adult and girl members.  All money is used locally within our Council.

Because GSSWGA is a not-for-profit 501 (C) (3) status agency, the IRS requires that no more than 33% of our annual income come from ‘girl generated’ sources such as the Cookie Program.  Our Council must show at least 33% of our income as ‘adult generated’ such as the Family Partnership Campaign.  The Family Partnership Campaign is a way for the families of girls to support our Council and their daughters.
