There is an annual $10.00 registration/insurance fee to register to be a Girl Scout as a girl or an adult. This fee covers the cost of insurance and goes directly to our national organization, Girl Scouts Of The USA (GSUSA). If you are unable to pay this registration fee for a girl, our Council has a financial aid program to assist you. It is our strong policy that no girl will be denied Girl Scouting due to a family’s inability to pay the registration fee. ARE YOU AN ADULT LOOKING TO VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME AND EXPERTISE? Here are a few of our volunteer positions: EVENT PLANNER: This volunteer works with council staff to successfully execute council sponsored events. The person will contact businesses, organizations or persons to coordinate events. Other responsibilities include gathering supplies, coordinating volunteers, implementing program, etc. EVENT STAFF: This volunteer works under the direction of the Event Planner and/or council staff. Some events will include direct contact with the girls in facilitating the program. The person would also assist in the set up and clean up of events. OFFICE STAFF: This volunteer will come into the council office or satellite offices and perform clerical tasks. For example, assist with bulk mailing, filing, sorting, and communicating with customers. PUBLIC RELATIONS/RECRUITER: This volunteer will speak to organizations, businesses and groups about Girl Scouts. Setting up volunteer recruitment displays and/or dispersing information at community fairs and festivals will be included. GRAPHIC DESIGNER: This volunteer needs to have knowledge of some type of publication software in order to successfully produce council newsletter, brochures or flyers. This person will work with council staff to produce fresh and innovative materials in a timely manner. TROOP LEADER: This volunteer works closely with girls to ensure the Girl Scout Program is presented in a fun and beneficial manner. The leader is assisted by other adults in planning, implementing, and organizing a Girl Scout troop. ASSISTANT TROOP LEADER: This volunteer works closely with troop leaders and girls to help successfully present Girl Scout Program. SERVICE UNIT (County) COOKIE CHAIR: This volunteer will receive, review and handle all Cookie Sale paperwork for the Service Unit ( or County, for example: Lee, Thomas or Lowndes). The person will help train troop cookie chairs and oversee the cookie delivery. SERVICE UNIT (County) MANAGER: This volunteer will work closely with council staff to manage volunteers in a county area. This person will conduct one monthly meeting with volunteers to deliver information, announce events, and discuss ideas. TRAINER: This volunteer is responsible for the education of Girl Scout Programs to adult volunteers. This person will work closely with council staff to ensure adults are trained properly and in a timely manner.
